Yiasemi (literally “jasmine”) is the always-busy, old-school café you’ll see in most photos of the Plaka neighbourhood. It’s strewn with greenery and forever packed with people, who perch outside on the steps of Mnisikleous, one of the routes to the Acropolis. This is the ideal spot to try a traditional Greek coffee, prepared in a briki and served in espresso-sized ceramic cups. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t find a spot outside – the interior features antique furniture painstakingly sourced by owner Mariza Kouzeli, plus a tempting spread of desserts presented on a marble table.
